My Favourites #iPhone #Photo ;-)

The theme for this week at I ♥ Faces is "My Favourite Things" (I'm Canadian...so I have to put the "u" in the word "favourite". It's the law.) and since this week is not being judged...well, I'll get to share a bonus favourite thing!!

So now,

in no particular order,

here are a few of my favourite things!!

My baby girl.

My sweet, adorable, baby girl.

And all her sweet, adorable, little parts.

A favourite time of the day for me is when she is getting her bottle. Then I can just sit and stare at her. It is such a peaceful, quiet, lovely time in the day...when I can just love her up!

I also love to love this kiddo up. My silly girl. This picture is her. To a T. That look on her face. That's her. Funny. Full of Beans. Lovin' Life.

Pony-girl. She is a bit more serious. She takes life a bit more seriously.

She is always trying very, very, hard to do her best. But, she definitely has her goofy side, too.

I'm so lucky to have all my girls. They really are best kids you could ever want. Three big favourites!

Then there's The Man.

He is the best, too. A hard worker, smart, funny, a great daddy...just an all around great guy. This picture is not him to a T, though. He looks very serious in this picture. He's generally a bit more goofy than that. Something a bit more like this...

Yep. That's him. And, I love him. He's a definite favourite. ;-)

Another favourite are pink roses! Like this one!

The Man bought me this one, and 11 more just like it, just a couple of weeks ago. Ahhh. So nice, huh? He also bought me these three little pigs that I just love.

Aren't they cute? He got me these because he knows I have a "thing" about pigs.

I love them! Well, I love lots of animals (like my doggie, for example).

But, my girls will tell you that I also love elephants, and skunks, and goats, and ferrets, and cows. I love cows. I swear, one of these days I'm gonna' get rear-ended because I have to keep pulling over to stare at all the cows that live around me. I don't know what it is. But, they are a favourite.

Another favourite that comes to mind right now is summer! I love summer! I love being warm and being able to go for long walks around the neighbourhood with my family.

I love hanging out at the park with my girls.

I love this...(the morning glories that climb up my number post in the summer)

NOT this...(the changing of the leaves. It's 9 degrees outside. In the middle of the afternoon!)

Ah well,

at least it does make one other favourite thing even more enjoyable....

Mmmmm....Timmies....

I love Tim Hortons coffee. And, now that it is colder outside...I can drink even more of it!

My iPhone!!!

"Pinky" (as I like to call her) is my newest favourite. I LOVE my iPhone and I don't really know how I got on without one before. I think my very favourite thing about my iPhone is the iPhone camera (and all the cool iPhone camera apps. you can get).

Like Chase Jarvis says, "The Best Camera...is the One That's With You. All The Time".

I love that I can have this camera with me...all the time. It's great for capturing the little day-to-day tidbits of our lives that I would otherwise miss because, let's face it, I'm not always going to lug a SLR around with me. And you know what...it's 3 mega pixels! That's not too shabby. Not like the camera-phones of yester-minute...this one takes shots that are good enough to print.

So, it may not win ya' any challenges over at I Heart Faces (then again...maybe it might! You never know! Chase Jarvis could probably enter a few iPhone shots and do alright for himself!)...

but it is still one of My Favourites!!!

Woo-Hooooo!

Ya-hoooooooo!!!

Hi everyone! Sorry for the screaming, but I just found out that the photo I entered this week into the I Heart Faces challenge ("silly faces") won for "Amy's Pick"!!! I am sooooo excited! I just love I Heart Faces. It is largely thanks to them (Amy and Angie) that I started taking my photography more seriously and placing in the top 10 awhile back with the picture I took of Maddie on the swing is what prompted me to even start my own Photo Blog. I've been taking lots of pictures of kiddos and babies and I am hoping to start doing that, "for real life" (as Jamie says), within the next year or so. I still need more practice, but the inspiration, incentive, and encouragement I've gotten from I Heart Faces has been incredible. Thank-you so much Angie and Amy! Now...off to get some "bubbles" pictures (that's next week's challenge if you want to come play along....). ;-)

Timeless Baby

Right after I entered my photo of Colie in the I ♥ Faces Blurb photo book contest I found this picture. I thought, "Oh! I should have entered this one instead!" I love the look on her face and the way the blanket frames her face. But, I knew "Sepia Week" was coming up and that this photo would be perfect for that beautiful, timeless, treatment. So, here she is...my baby Nicole.

Celebration!

This week's challenge over at I ♥ Faces is "Happy Birthday". If you want to enter, your photo must have a child in it and there must be some signs of a "celebration". While I got some cute shots of Maddie making her wish and blowing out her candle, my favourite picture turned out to be this one...with her looking up at the smoke that came off the candle just after she blew it out. I love the great, natural, smile on her face and the look of pure happiness in her eyes. It reminds me of the joy of childhood - to see the amazement and beauty in the simplest of things.

Swing Silhouette

This week's challenge over at I ♥ Faces is "Silhouettes", but you probably already figured that out based on the cool little button up above...cuz' you're smart like that.

My photo is one I took of Maddie a couple of week's ago over at "Play Park". I was laying down on my back in the little pebbles as she swung above my head. I must have taken 30 photos of her from this position. My neck was killing me by the time I got up...but that's okay because I got this really cool shot with the sun framed perfectly between the chains of her swing. I love how you can see the sunlight in her hair, too. This was a really fun challenge.

Baby Giggles

The challenge theme for this week over at I ♥ Faces is "Laughter". One of the best things about a baby who is about 3 months old is getting to see lots of those great smiles and even getting to hear a laugh or two. So far, Colie thinks the most hilarious thing is when you give her a nice, big, fake sneeze.

Another Hat...

I decided to get a shot of Dave when he came home from work today for the Adults category of this week's I ♥ Faces challenge. Wow. That was a long sentence. I think he always looks so cute in his hat so...why not?

I took this photo standing up in the back of the truck looking down on him. The neighbours were watching me and wondering what the heck I was up to, I am sure.

I Heart Faces: The Maddie Hatter

This week's challenge over at I ♥ Faces is to capture a great image of a face with a hat. This worked out nicely for me because Madilyn (who doesn't generally like playing the model) loves her hat. This hat was a gift from her BFF Abby and Abby's mom Shan - a.k.a. The Fairy Blogmother. So, capturing a lovely image of my sweet Maddie was made all the easier because she got to do it with her beloved pink, hip-hop girl, hat. Ahh...she's a cutie.

Reflection: Colie Swinging

It's time once again for the i ♥ faces photography challenge. This week's theme is "Reflection".

Now this isn't the picture of someone sitting all thoughtful and contemplating the meaning of life, kinda' reflection - this is, literally, a picture of a reflection.

I think we all saw enough of my face in last week's "Self-Portrait" challenge so this week's model is little Miss Nicole. This is a picture of her in her baby swing. There is a mirror (and a mobile) right above the swing.





If you look closely you can see part of me peeking out from under the swing to snap the shot. There wasn't much room to hide under there, I'll tell you!

I Heart Self-Portraits!

Hi everyone! This is my very first week participating in the I Heart Faces photo challenge. This week the theme is "Self-Portraiture" (thank Gawd my braces are finally off!).

There are two categories for this week’s theme:
• Kids Category – the photo must be of you and a child (or children)
• Adults Category – show us your face…and your face ONLY!
For both categories, you must take the photo and you must be holding the camera when you take it (you can’t use a tripod or anything else to hold the camera for you.)

I decided to try and get a shot for both!

Here is my entry for the Adults Category:




Oh, hey! Look at that. You can't even see my teeth in this shot, so it wouldn't have mattered if my braces were still on anyway. The photo was taken in the vanity mirror of our truck. I sat in the parking lot snapping away photos of myself while Davey was in buying groceries. I think all the other shoppers must have thought I was crazy. But, it was very overcast and rainy outside my window...so it made for kind of nice lighting. :-)
