Yummy Shrimp Gumbo

It's What's Cooking Wednesday time again and Shan has so much on her plate, she has no time to blog about putting food there! So, if you have a great recipe you'd like to share this would be a great week to do it. Please just click right HERE to get all the details - and pick up some other great recipes from The Fairy BlogMother's pals.

But, before you go...

let me just tell you that if you are looking for a nice, hearty soup that fills you up and leaves you feeling all warm and cozy inside (just in time for this colder...waaahhhh....weather) then look no further than Michael Smith's Recipe for Shrimp Gumbo which you can find right HERE. I really love Michael Smith's "Chef at Home" show...not just because I get such a weirdly huge kick out of watching him duck in and out of his pantry door (this man is really, really, tall)...not just because he has a really adorable son named Gabe who often makes guest appearances...but because Michael Smith has some of the very best, easy to make, and fool-proof recipes on his show.

This recipe has been made a couple of times now by my wonderful hubby, Davey. I just love it when Dave cooks because he is really good at it, actually, and he usually does it (when he does) on the weekend so that when I come home from work the house smells so nummy when I step inside. Isn't that the best? When you are driving home from work, starving, and wondering what the hell you are going to have for dinner and you open the door and smell...mmmm...good food. And, I find, for some reason, that food always tastes better when I don't make it. Oh...is that a weird phenomenon or a comment on my cooking ability?

Anyway. Because I don't eat pigs or cows (which, apparently, makes me a "flexitarian". I never knew that before. I guess they have a name for everything these days), Dave just switched out the Italian sausage for turkey sausage, but everything else remained the same. It was delicious.

I'm just sorry that poor Mike (The Fairy BlogMother's wonderful hubby) who will be recuperating this week can't try this one - unless he wants to head back to the hospital early! But, if you aren't deathly allergic to shellfish then you have to try this one out. It is really, really, good and I ate the left-overs for the next two days straight!

Happy What's Cooking Wednesday and

We'll all be thinking of you Mike...and sending you our best wishes for a speedy recovery.

Okay I am seriously in love with you! Very sweet post.

I like Michael Smith too. And this looks so good I may attempt it with chicken. Although I know the shrimp would be amazing.

Thanks.

That looks absolutely delicious. I love the combination of shrimp and sausage of any type, and this is perfect gumbo season.
